Withdrawing a Complaint


FORM FOR COMPLAINT WITHDRAWAL


To withdraw a complaint against a municipal police officer:
  • You must make a signed request, in writing, to the chief of municipal police with whom you filed the complaint.


To withdraw a complaint against a chief of a municipal police service:

  • You must make your signed request to withdraw the complaint, in writing, to the Manager, Office of the Police Commissioner.


To withdraw a complaint against an instructing officer of the Atlantic Police Academy:

  • You must make a signed request, in writing, to the Director of the Atlantic Police Academy.


To withdraw a complaint against the Director of the Atlantic Police Academy:

  • You must make your signed request to withdraw the complaint, in writing, to the Manager, Office of the Police Commissioner.


To withdraw a complaint against an UPEI security police officer:

  • You must make a signed request, in writing, to the Manager, Office of the Police Commissioner.


Upon a request to withdraw a complaint being accepted, the complainant and respondent will receive written confirmation of the withdrawal. 

If the request for withdrawal is refused, the complainant and respondent will be notified of the refusal in writing within 15 days.
